OBOV Mission & Goals

The OBOV Mission Statement:

One Book One Valley (OBOV) is a community reading initiative in Eagle County, Colorado.  It is a collaborative effort designed to unite and uplift hundreds of citizens by encouraging reading and promoting a sense of community by sharing a common topic for conversation.

The OBOV Goals:

The overall goal is to provide an annual, ongoing set of events, which will grow in scope and popularity for communities along the I-70 corridor of Eagle County, specifically to: 

  • Bring the community together, annually, for a shared reading experience surrounding a common book.
  • Provide opportunities throughout Eagle County for a six to eight-week series of programs related to the chosen book.
  • Encourage literacy and increased usage of Eagle County’s public libraries.
  • Provide topics, themes, and thought-provoking ideas for community conversation.
  • Form partnerships with local organizations and businesses to promote literacy.
  • Create opportunities for the exchange of ideas amongst diverse populations of the Valley.
